Anyone who has met my brother-in-law, Scott Mackenroth, is a friend of his. On January 12, 2026, Scott received the devastating news that he has stage-4 kidney cancer. This diagnosis has turned life upside down for Scott and his family. Scott and his wife, Nanette, have called Wimberley home since 1996, raising their two daughters, Jacy and Carly, and caring for their grandniece, Carolyn. Scott has always been someone who gives back—he served as a volunteer firefighter from 2003 to 2016 and was on the front lines during the Wimberley Memorial Day flood in 2015.

Now, Scott is facing his toughest challenge yet. He was forced to stop working immediately after his diagnosis and is hoping to begin treatments soon. The sudden loss of income, combined with the mounting costs of treatment and travel, has put a tremendous strain on the Mackenroth family.
