Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. As you may know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) more than 15 years ago. For much of that time, I have done my best to manage the condition privately, determined to maintain a sense of normalcy. However, the reality is that PD has progressed significantly, making daily life increasingly challenging.

A little breakdown, Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement and is caused by the brain’s inability to produce sufficient dopamine. It manifests in a variety of ways, including tremors, muscle rigidity, balance issues (falling), slurred speech, and “freezing” episodes, where movement becomes temporarily impossible. Parkinsons is one of the fastest growing neurological diseases in the world! Some well-known individuals who have battled or are still battling this disease include Michael J. Fox, Muhammad Ali, Kirk Gibson, Robin Williams, Brett Favre, and many more. I am currently reaching out to Brett Favre to explore ways to raise awareness and advance research efforts. Additionally, I am seeking to participate in clinical trials at the Mayo Clinic that examine the connection between athletic concussions, and PD.

For many years, I built a successful career in the home improvement industry specializing in kitchen and bath remodeling, which I loved, as that allowed me to support my family. Unfortunately, as my condition has progressed, I have been forced to step away from my career, as the day-to-day struggles have taken its toll on me! Angie is working as hard as she can to help us survive, but without my help, it's put a lot on her shoulders. I am currently in the painful process of applying for disability benefits through Social Security, which is an extensive and lengthy process that has taken nearly a year to complete. To add, the government is in the longest shut down in history...of course!! During this waiting period, my ability to earn an income is severely restricted, placing a significant financial strain on my family.

It is not easy for me to ask for help, but at this moment, I must reach out to those closest to me. If you are in a position to offer support, whether financially, by sharing resources, or simply by keeping my family in your prayers we would be deeply grateful. Any assistance will help us navigate this transition and enable me to focus on my health, participate in critical research, and continue advocating for those affected by PD.
