Support Scott Flynn's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
We're gathering support for our dear friend and colleague Scott Flynn, who has suffered a life altering injury. We're heartbroken. A fall off a swing with his daughter from a broken tree branch has resulted in multiple spinal fractures, and Scott will be unable to work for at least a few months, perhaps longer.

Making all this worse, Scott and his family had planned to move to Europe in August. With the move to a new home and universal healthcare in sight, Scott didn't renew his health insurance last month and is having to face looming medical bills fully out of pocket. Likewise, those plans to move are now also on hold, and arrangements to delay the move (housing, flights, visas) will be costly as well.

The road to recovery will be long and challenging. While we're hopeful for a full recovery for Scott, we also have to come to terms with the fact that trombone is a physically demanding instrument and during that time where he's away from his horn and unable to work, we're asking for community support.

Many know him as the trombonist for Odesza, with whom he's toured around the world, but Scott has been a pillar for the music scene in Denver for years, bringing light and joy to all those around him. Scott is also a father and husband, whose family depends on his income. Unfortunately, our society doesn't have a built-in support structure for independent contractors like musicians, which makes community support all the more important in this moment.

Whether you're a fan of Scott's music that has reached millions of ears over the years, you're a student of his who has had the opportunity to study with him, you're a musical collaborator, a wedding DJ client of his, or simply a friend, you already know what a kind heart this man has, and that he would be the first to step up to help if any of us were in his shoes.

As the hospital and rehab bills continue to grow in the absence of Scott's expected income, we're so grateful for your contribution and support. We're feeling scared, but hopeful, and will continue to update with Scott's condition when we're able.

With love and gratitude
