Help Scott & Darla Rebuild After Devastating Medical Setbacks
(Michigan) For over four decades, Scott Bissonnette dedicated his life to helping others—whether it was repairing their vehicles with integrity or stepping away from his career to care for his ailing parents. Now, he and his wife Darla are the ones in need, facing an overwhelming season of physical hardship, financial instability, and heartbreak.
A Life of Hard Work—Interrupted
Scott began working in the automotive field at just 17 and never stopped—until his body couldn’t take it anymore. In 2010, he suffered a life-threatening fall from a deer stand that crushed his spine and dislocated his head from his neck. After being misdiagnosed and sent back to work for 18 days, emergency surgery fused his head and spine back together. Despite this trauma, he continued working until his injuries became too severe.
In 2024, after repeated neck trauma from faulty equipment at work, Scott underwent another major spinal surgery, this time fusing vertebrae C-3 through C-8. The surgeon warned him: one more injury could mean paralysis or even death. He was forced to stop working and has been in and out of hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and emergency rooms ever since.
Despite applying for over 300 jobs and being denied Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Scott is now unable to work, lift more than 10 pounds, or even sleep through the night without intense pain.
Darla’s Long Battle
Scott’s wife, Darla Kane-Bissonnette, is no stranger to suffering either. In 2008, she survived a harrowing battle with throat cancer after 35 straight days of radiation that left her frail and unable to eat. In 2023, she began fainting due to breathing problems, and doctors feared the cancer had returned. A tracheotomy was performed, and while the cancer did not return (thankfully), the trauma has left her physically and emotionally drained.
Now, she can barely speak, is dependent on breathing tubes, and was recently forced to stop working. Her disability case is also still pending.
The Reality They Face
Scott and Darla have given everything—physically, emotionally, and financially. They’ve sold all they had, exhausted their 401k, and drained their savings just to survive. Their only monthly income is Darla’s $1,519 retirement, while their monthly bills total over $3,400. Despite their lifelong contributions as taxpayers and workers, they’ve been denied government assistance and are now at risk of losing their home of 17 years.
They can’t move. They can’t physically maintain their property. And most importantly—they can’t give up.
How You Can Help
Your donation, no matter the size, will help Scott and Darla:
- Keep their home
- Cover monthly bills and utilities
- Afford medications and essential care
- Focus on healing without the fear of homelessness
They are not asking for luxury—just a lifeline. After a lifetime of showing up for others, they now need a community to show up for them.
Will you be part of their lifeline? Scott and Darla are fighting every day to hold on through unimaginable challenges—but they can’t do it alone. Your support could be the helping hand they desperately need to climb out of this darkness.
If you’ve ever had someone in your life like Scott or Darla—hardworking and dedicated to family—please consider donating or sharing this campaign. Every dollar helps and every share brings them closer to stability.
