Hello everyone,
My name is Jess, and I’m creating this fundraiser to help a very special dog named Scooby.
We found Scooby abandoned on the streets. From the moment we saw him, our hearts broke. He struggled to walk properly and was clearly in pain, yet he was still incredibly sweet, gentle, loving, and trusting. Instead of being scared or aggressive, all Scooby wanted was affection, kindness, and love. He would slowly walk toward us, looking for comfort, despite everything he had been through. It is heartbreaking to imagine that someone could leave such a beautiful, loving dog behind because of his condition. We simply couldn’t leave him there to suffer alone.
My mom and I rescued him and took him to the vet to understand what was wrong. The vets confirmed he did not have a microchip and was most likely a stray.
After examinations and X-rays, we learned that Scooby suffers from a severe spinal condition called spondylosis. This degenerative disease has caused damage to the nerves in his spine over time, leaving him with permanent urinary and fecal incontinence. Despite everything he has gone through, Scooby remains calm, affectionate, and full of love. He is truly a beautiful dog with the most wonderful temperament. He still wants to trust people. He still wants love.
My partner and I decided to bring him home temporarily so he could finally experience safety, care, and kindness while we searched for a long-term solution. But caring for Scooby has quickly become emotionally and financially overwhelming.
We live in a top-floor condo with wood floors and stairs, which is not suitable for a dog with mobility issues and incontinence. We created a small safe space for him with pads, blankets, diapers, and comfort supplies, but the reality is that Scooby deserves so much more. He deserves grass beneath his paws, fresh air, freedom to move, and a home where his condition can be properly managed.
In just a few days, we have already spent almost $1,000 on vet visits, vaccines, deworming treatments, diapers, cleaning supplies, medications, special food for his stomach issues, and ongoing care. He still needs to be neutered and may require continued medical support.
At our second vet visit, we were told something that gave us hope: Scooby can still have a good quality of life with the right medical treatment and care. However, surgery to help repair and stabilize his spine is estimated to cost over $10,000, far beyond what we can manage alone, and this is without including rehab and post surgery treatments.
Even with all the challenges, we have fallen in love with Scooby. Watching him slowly feel safe, rest peacefully, and seek affection after everything he has endured has been heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
We are committed to fostering him and giving him love while we search for specialized medical foster care or the forever home he deserves. We are asking for help to cover Scooby’s medical expenses and daily care so we can continue giving him a chance at the life he never had.
Every donation, share, and prayer means the world to Scooby and to us.
Thank you for helping us show him that not all humans give up on him.
With love,
Jess
