On a recent trip to my hometown in La Vega in the Dominican Republic, I visited the elementary school I briefly attended as a child. The experience was a powerful reminder of the importance of giving back, especially to communities that have shaped us. Giving back to the communities we visit is a mission I’m eager to explore more deeply in our travels.

In February, Journeys to Explore will host a trip to Guatemala, where our group will have the opportunity to visit a local school to make a donation in San Jose Calderas, Guatemala. This trip will not only be a memorable experience for us to learn about and appreciate Guatemalan culture but also an opportunity to positively impact the community that will welcome us. The schools we will be supporting have a strong need for essential supplies to help create a safe, comfortable, and productive learning environment. The donated items will include classroom essentials such as fans to keep rooms cool, maintenance tools for keeping the grounds clean, books, art supplies, educational games, and more. With your support, we can help provide students and teachers with the resources they need to thrive and succeed.

Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference in improving classroom conditions and empowering young minds through education.
