Hello! Thank you for coming to this page! I’m helping my friends, Jami and Nate Schluter, raise money to help pay for their medical bills they’ve had pile up over the last few years.

Short Story:
Since the summer of 2020, they’ve had many unexpected out of pocket medical expenses including: surgical removal of miscarried pregnancy, fertility treatment to conceive their Baylor, surgery for retained placenta, surgery for ectopic pregnancy, a high risk pregnancy, genetic testing, ear tube surgery, surgery to treat Stetson’s rocker bottom feet, and most recently, Nate had spinal fusion surgery.

Thank you so much for considering donating to the Schluter family. Any amount is appreciated and going to help them pay off their medical bills.

Long Story:

Nate and Jami Schluter's story starts out as most typically do. Boy meets girl in college, they start dating, fall in love and decide to start a life together. They both end up getting jobs at North Bend Central with Nate starting at the NBC middle school SPED department before moving to teaching physical education for elementary school and middle school and Jami in the high school science department. After a few years of raising their dog, Dudley, they decided to put roots down in North Bend and begin the next adventure of starting a family.

Since then, their life has been a roller coaster with many ups, downs, twists, and turns. After trying to get pregnant for months, they were overjoyed to find out they were pregnant. But their joy was short lived as it was found out the baby had miscarried and Jami required surgery to remove the miscarriage. After struggling to get pregnant again, they sought fertility help to have the baby they were dreaming of. Luckily, after a medicated IUI, a baby finally stuck and they were elated to have their son, Baylor, join their family in December 2021. Several weeks after giving birth, it was found that Jami had retained some of the placenta and she required surgery to remove the rest. Their life was calm for a little bit...well, as calm as things can be navigating life with a newborn as new parents!

When Baylor turned one, they started to talk about expanding their family again with the concern it could take a while again since they struggled with infertility the first time. They were both shocked to find out they were soon pregnant on their own. But after not feeling quite right, Jami went in to get checked out by her doctor to only discover she was having an ectopic pregnancy and her fallopian tube had ruptured. She needed lifesaving surgery that day before the situation took a turn for the worst. Jami's life was saved, and she recovered quickly. Just months later, Nate and Jami were elated to find out Jami was pregnant again. They were cautiously excited about this pregnancy each month as things progressed.
At 20 weeks along, the second time parents were almost starting to relax when they were headed in for the anatomy scan. They found out their second child was going to be a boy! But also, something wasn't quite right with his feet, and it was a possible sign of other serious genetic conditions. They were passed along to a high-risk doctor for more details. They were stunned to find out that their baby had bilateral rocker bottom feet. Since rocker bottom feet are associated with some very serious conditions, the doctor informed Nate and Jami that the baby may not be compatible with life outside Jami's belly. After that Earth shattering news, more testing was required to see the extent of what they could find out to be more prepared for whatever the future held. After a nerve wracking few weeks waiting for results, they were over the moon to find out the baby's genetic test results were 100% normal, which shocked the doctor because he had never heard about a baby having rocker bottom feet but no other issues.

This news was a relief, but now their focus went to how they can fix his feet. They started to meet with an orthopedic surgeon to help put together a plan for once the baby was born. Jami and the baby continued to be monitored by a high risk doctor the rest of the pregnancy.

In 2023, they welcomed their son, Stetson, to the family. Since he was born, Stetson has had to deal with x-rays, bi-weekly casts, helmet, six ear infections, two ear drum ruptures, ear tube surgery, and recently had his first of an eventual two reconstruction surgeries for his feet. The little guy has had a lot in less than a year of life so far!

Most recently, just days after Stetson’s first reconstruction surgery, Nate had emergency back surgery to repair a ruptured disc. He is recovering at home now, but he will be unable help Jami with the boys very much and likely unable to lift them up until September.

With everything that has happened over the last four years, they are financially stressed with all these medical expenses. They have had to pay almost $30,000 out of pocket during this time. At this point, they are struggling to keep up with all the incoming medical bills.

Thank you so much for considering donating to the Schluter family. Any amount is appreciated and going to help them pay off their medical bills.
