On May 19th, 2025 our family was in a serious car accident on highway 281 while on our way home, changing our lives forever. We have yet to find out what exactly happened as neither of us remember any details, and we do not have a police report. What we do know is that there were three children in the back, a pregnant mother, and a father In the front. While the children are okay, the parents didn’t have the same experience. Mom has two broken vertebrae in her back, while being pregnant. Dad suffered a broken pelvis in 4 spots, an open leg fracture, a broken rib and a punctured lung, 2 extensive surgeries to fix his pelvis and ankle, and a very long road to recovery ahead. Brock was sent via life flight to Fort Worth after being stabilized in the Stephenville ER. He was then sent to the trauma ICU where he remained for 4 days. He was then sent to the orthopedic floor where he will remain until a bed is found at an acute rehab facility. There he will undergo at least 3 months of rehab. Brock will not be able to bear weight on his broken ankle for 3 months, which poses a huge challenge as Brock is the main provider as a chef in a local restaurant in our town. This profession requires him to be on his feet for 8-10 hours each day that he works. He is a hard worker, frequently working overtime in order to provide for his family. As an additional complication, he does not have health insurance and his medical bills will be extensive given his 2 surgeries, ICU stay, and extended hospital and rehab stay. Family has stepped in to help as much as possible, but they are only able to do so much. There are immediate needs such as rent, food, utilities.
