Many in the Natchitoches community know Schelly. She is the owner of Totally Tile and has been doing incredible work for over 25 years. She is known for her outstanding work ethic, quality, and integrity. To know her is to know her humility, kindness, and warmth. Schelly is most proud of her children. She is a single mom of a twin son and daughter who just graduated from high school. In addition to raising and providing for them, she lives next door to and cares for her mother.
All of that is the good stuff, but what many may not know is that Schelly has been battling one medical crisis after another, all in 2020. She started the year with a back injury that is threatening her livelihood. She works through the pain and then needs her son to carry her into her house because the pain is so excruciating that she is unable to walk after a very long day of work. She needs back surgeries but she has postponed them because she is unable to go without working for the four months that will be required for recovery. She pushes on under the care of a doctor for pain management so that she can keep working.
In an attempt to compensate for her back injury and pain, Schelly injured her shoulder -- her right shoulder and she is right-handed. Because of torn tendons and ligaments, Schelly needs a total reconstruction of her shoulder.
While treating her back, doctors then discovered that Schelly had cancer, so she underwent surery to remove cancer. She is still in need of a hysterectomy to remove precancerous polyps, but she has been trying to postpone it as long as possible.
Then, in October, Schelly had a horrible accident with a saw at work that cut off her thumb and pinky finger. They were able to reattach her thumb, but she currently has numbness in her thumb, ring finger, and part of her hand. She is scheduled to have two hand surgeries and will not know the use of her fingers and hand until recovery, This was her right hand - her dominant hand.
In the middle of all of this, Schelly was recently informed that she suffered a silent heart attack!
Schelly is a faithful person and is trying to stay positive, but she is tired and trying to push through because her livelihood is at stake. She is a proud, independent woman who does not like to ask for help, but she needs it desperately! She needs surgeries and medical care, she needs help with the medical expenses, and she needs help with her living expenses so she can get the medical care she needs. Please help Schelly with whatever amount you can! No amount is too small or big. Whatever amount is greatly appreciated and will go straight to this incredible woman to help her pay for needed surgeries and medical and life expenses.
