Support Scarlett's Battle Against Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Scarlett is a sweet and spicy soon-to-be 15-year-old recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After months of suffering with a pneumonia that would keep her awake most nights and out of school and sports, a chest scan revealed a frightening discovery... a mass around her heart. She was quickly hospitalized, admitted to the ICU for further tests and given IV antibiotics. Biopsy results came back with news no parent wants to hear for their child: Stage 3 Cancer. Fortunately, her doctors have given the hope of a solid plan for treatment and her complete recovery, but only after months of chemotherapy treatments and radiation.

Scarlett is small but mighty! And we know she can get through this, but she'll need all our support to do so! Her medical needs will cost more than just money; it will cost her time away from her friends, from her favorite sport, volleyball, and all her energy must be put toward healing. Chemo will take an immense toll on her body leaving her prone to serious infections and complications and further hospitalizations. Instead of learning to drive this year, Scarlet will be navigating rough seas back to health.

Her loving dad, Chuck Ruiz, will need to periodically step away from his business at Richie B's Pizzeria to help care for her. As a local small business owner in Albuquerque, NM, he depends on the success of his pizza shop to help cover the medical costs, but he would undoubtedly choose to close his doors over time away from his daughter! Her caring mom will also be taking time away from work, leaving both parents struggling to make ends meet as they gather their strength for this fight.
