Support Scarlette’s Fight Against CMT

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Estrella , and I’m a single mom to a brave and beautiful 5-year-old daughter who is living with a rare and aggressive form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease — a progressive and debilitating neurological condition with no cure.

In addition to CMT, my daughter also battles a serious heart condition, impaired mobility, vision problems, and relies on a gastrostomy tube for nutrition. Most recently, we received the heartbreaking news that her brain function tests results indicated epilepsy. Every day is a challenge, but she faces it all with more strength than I’ve ever seen in someone so young.

To give her the best possible quality of life, she requires multiple therapies every day — including physical, occupational, and speech therapy — just to help maintain her muscle tone, mobility, and ability to eat solids and drink safely. These therapies are absolutely essential in slowing the progression of her condition and keeping her as strong and independent as possible.

Despite everything she’s up against, my daughter dreams of becoming a gymnast one day. She lights up when she watches gymnastics videos, and her determination to move, stretch, and participate in therapy is fueled by that dream. Her spirit is unbreakable — and it's a daily reminder to me of what real courage looks like.

We live in Manor, TX, but we frequently travel to Dallas, TX, where she is being treated by Dr. Kaitlin Young Batley at one of the world’s leading CMT clinics, along with other top specialists. These appointments are critical to keeping her condition from worsening, and they offer hope when it feels like there are so few options left.

These trips — and the constant medical needs — come with heavy costs: gas, hotels, food, and many out-of-pocket medical expenses quickly add up. On top of this, we’re now in urgent need of a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to safely transport her and her power wheelchair to appointments and therapies. Our current transportation can no longer meet her growing needs, and having the right vehicle would be life-changing — allowing us to travel more safely, more often, and without risking her comfort or health.

As a single parent and student working towards advancing my career in the medical field (so I can better care for her myself), I’m doing everything I can to hold things together, but I’ve reached a point where I need help.

I’m humbly asking for your support — whether that’s through a donation, sharing our story, or simply sending love and encouragement. Every bit helps us get to the care she desperately needs and brings us one step closer to stability — and to keeping her dreams alive.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my daughter and our journey. Your kindness means more than words can say.

With deep gratitude,
Estrella
