Since July 2017, my sister, Sayla Hachey — the backbone of our family — has been fighting Stage IIIC ovarian cancer.
She was diagnosed while trying to begin a family of her own. Since then, she has not only fought tirelessly for her life, but has also become an advocate, warning other women about the symptoms of ovarian cancer and the importance of early detection. Even in the midst of her own battle, she has always thought of others. You can read more about her journey here and here .
For several years, she remained stable. But recently, the cancer has progressed. The spread of tumors has left her unable to eat or drink. She now relies entirely on TPN nutrition. Multiple hospital stays, blood clots, and serious infections have taken an enormous toll on her strength and mobility.
As she begins palliative care at home, our greatest hope is to keep her comfortable, supported, and surrounded by love while she completes a month-long regimen of antibiotics and we determine next steps.
Sayla has worked incredibly hard to create a home where our elderly parents can live with her and help in any way they can. But the level of care she now needs goes beyond what family alone can provide.
We are raising funds to hire in-home caregivers to ensure she receives consistent, professional support — helping with medical needs, mobility, and daily care — so she can focus on healing and conserving her strength.
If you are able to donate, any amount truly helps. And if you cannot give financially, sharing this page means more than you know.
Thank you for supporting Sayla during this incredibly difficult chapter.
