Sawyer is a kitten that found her way to seek help. She was abandoned/dumped we believe due to her medical condition that if treated properly she could have saved her leg. This little princess must have known her time was soon up and she found her way to the restaurant glass door and sat. They’re looking in at the humans feeding in the warmth. My daughter quickly called me and we got a rescue team to go help secure the kitten. Sawyer was diagnosed with osteomyelitis and septic arthritis due to her belly button, not being properly cared for after birth. The infection could have been treated with six weeks of medication, but instead Sawyer was left to suffer and slowly die. Sawyer’s case is so severe that the bacteria has eaten away a significant amount of her knee and femur. Sawyer is in great pain. She cannot use that leg and it hurts to even move. Because of this neglect she has suffered she has no other option to save her life, except to amputate her back leg ASAP!

Sawyer was thought to be eight weeks old when first seen at the vet. She was 1.5 pounds and every bone could be seen through her small body. During her exam examination of her teeth, it was determined that Sawyer was four months old and not eight weeks like we thought. She should weigh about 3-4 pounds at four months not 1.5 pounds. At Sawyer’s second vet check, we discovered she did not gain any weight and started showing drainage from her nose and eyes. She was dying slowly from her illness. We started on some antibiotics and hope for the best. Two weeks later, Sawyer had gained 1 pound, but the bacteria continues to eat her bones and can spread quickly to other areas. The condition loves to eat at growth plate plates, and since Sawyer is a baby This can truly take her life. Since she tolerated antibiotics, we put her on and she gained weight. We decided to move her to a stronger medication until we can secure funding to amputate her leg. Sawyer is a patient at Conestoga animal Hospital in Hinkletown Pennsylvania donations can be called into their office [phone redacted]. Sawyer is listed under Hope Moore‘s account.
