My son Sawyer is a bright, energetic kid who has always loved running, playing football, riding his bike and scooter, and spending time on his favorite video games like Fortnite. Our world changed when he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. After his diagnosis, Sawyer underwent surgery to remove a large mass from his brain. Since then, he has faced the difficult challenge of relearning how to talk and walk. He now relies on a wheelchair and walker to get around, and he is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. We have been living three hours away from home for the past three months so Sawyer can receive the care he needs.
Sawyer was recently accepted into a medical trial that offers hope, but insurance does not cover the costs. We are also responsible for several medications that are not covered by insurance. With me unable to work while caring for Sawyer full-time, we are struggling to keep up with food, rent, utilities, and daily living expenses. In less than two weeks, we will return home to begin another round of chemotherapy, which means frequent trips between Wichita and Kansas City for appointments. The cost of gas and travel is another burden we are facing.
We are asking for support to help cover Sawyer’s medical bills, supplies, and our family’s living costs during this difficult time. Every donation will help us focus on Sawyer’s recovery and give him the best chance at healing. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer.
