Support Savannah's Critical Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On Monday, April 28th, Savannah’s life changed in an instant. She suffered a devastating fall that resulted in life-threatening injuries, requiring her to be airlifted by emergency helicopter to CHKD in Norfolk for urgent medical care.
The impact caused a severe break in her arm—so traumatic that the bone pierced through her muscle and tore her brachial artery in half, completely cutting off blood flow to her arm. In addition, Savannah suffered multiple fractures in her elbow, wrist, and arm.
She was rushed into a 6.5-hour emergency surgery, where orthopedic and vascular surgeons worked tirelessly to save her arm. Pins were placed in all the broken areas, and a vascular graft was taken from her leg to repair the torn artery. Thankfully, the graft was successful in restoring blood flow.
To prevent further damage and swelling, Savannah underwent a fasciotomy that extends the length of her arm. The surgeon described this as the worst fracture they had ever seen. While her arm is now casted and being held together with temporary surgical solutions, she remains in critical recovery as doctors monitor the success of the arterial repair and manage ongoing risks.
Savannah has bravely endured multiple blood transfusions due to low hemoglobin levels and is currently battling significant pain. She is currently in the pediatric intensive care unit and her journey is far from over. She faces months of intensive medical care, rehabilitation, and uncertainty.
Her parents, Rachel and Dale, have been by her side every moment through this traumatic, life-changing ordeal. As any parents would, they are choosing to stay with their daughter full-time, putting work, income, and everything else on hold to focus on Savannah’s recovery.
We are asking for your help to support the Blankenship family during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go directly toward medical bills, travel costs, ongoing care, and helping Rachel and Dale stay by Savannah’s side without the added burden of financial stress.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and community.
Let’s come together and help lift this incredible young woman and her family through this uphill battle. Your kindness and support mean more than words can say.
