On February 3rd , my sister and I got a call that you never want as a business owner. A driver crashed through the front window of our boutique, Savannah Hoffman Designs. We are Liz and Felicia Akop, and we own a boutique in historic downtown Carrollton. But it’s more than a boutique; we created a sisterhood and a community of women. Our customers became our friends.
We are devastated. On a day that we were to be celebrating our second anniversary and Felicia's birthday, we are dealing with police, insurance companies, and a million other things.
This money is needed for expenses beyond what insurance will cover. Bills still must be paid. Merchandise, utilities, and day to day expenses sill go on. We’ve pivoted before but the shop can’t be opened to the public in any way giving us no way to sell or function as a store to support ourselves. We also now have unexpected expenses that insurance doesn’t cover.
Please keep us in your thoughts. This business is both our dream and our income. We are looking at weeks being closed and assessing the damage to our property and one-of-a-kind pieces that were destroyed.
Today is such a sad day, but we will rise from the ashes like phoenixes.
As our eloquent neighbor said, "A minor setback. A major comeback."
