Just over a year ago, Savannah Bolton was a healthy, vibrant 11-year-old excited for a family trip to California. What seemed like a severe stomach bug led to an emergency room visit and a diagnosis that changed her family’s life forever. Since that day, John and Courtney have left no stone unturned in their fight for Savannah. They have traveled across the country, sought out the best doctors and treatments available, and moved mountains to help their daughter fight this devastating tumor while creating precious memories with family and friends.
Through it all, Savannah has remained the sweet, brave girl everyone loves. She adores animals, especially dogs, summers in Maine, and spending time with her siblings, cousins, and many friends. The Bolton family is deeply grateful for the extraordinary care, compassion, and innovative treatment opportunities Savannah has received from St. Jude, as well as the incredible love and support shown by their community throughout this journey.
While Savannah remains under the care of St. Jude, a new chapter of hope is unfolding in California. Dr. Anthony Wang, Pediatric Neurosurgeon at UCLA, recently performed a successful surgery, removing approximately 90% of her tumor. Savannah is now beginning rehabilitation while doctors pursue promising personalized and experimental treatment options.
The cost of Savannah’s ongoing care and access to these groundbreaking therapies is significant. Travel, temporary housing, rehabilitation, uncovered medical expenses, and experimental treatments can be extraordinarily expensive, and many are only partially covered—or not covered at all—by insurance. While there are no guarantees, these pioneering therapies offer hope and may also help advance research that creates new possibilities for other children facing similar diagnoses in the future.
