Support Our Beloved Sauda's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Sauda Garrett is a dedicated teacher, a mother, a grandmother, a healer, and a writer who loves words. She also prides herself on being a great cook. After working hard her whole life raising her own family, teaching, and caring for others, Sauda finds herself unable to work and in dire circumstances. Sauda is currently managing a brain aneurysm and heart disorder diagnosis while recovering from a second bout of pneumonia. She has been unable to work since August of this year.
Sauda needs the temporary strength of your donation to fend off eviction from her home and to buy her time to regain her physical and emotional strength to fully advocate for her own long-term health care needs and benefits. Right now, Sauda needs your donation to raise $5,000.00 to save her housing and her life until she can work again.
This asking, this appealing to you, is extremely hard for Sauda.
“I was taught to always give of myself. It wasn’t explicitly said, but the concept was present in every action or gesture I watched my parents make. It was a tradition passed down through my paternal ancestry.”
“I used to say that I wanted to be seen, and I do. But being seen as incapable of caring for myself is excruciating.”
Your donation will make a difference in the life of a truly wonderful woman and a pillar in our writing and creative community.
In Joy and Generous Giving,
Andrea
