Support Satya's Recovery from the Eaton Wildfires
Donation protected
Many of you know my 24-year-old daughter, Satya Sheftel-Gomes, a recent graduate of Occidental College. For the last 18 months since graduating, Satya has lived in Altadena, California in Los Angeles on the farm where she worked as an early childhood educator at Village Play Garden, an outdoor farm school for preschool-age children.
The Eaton wildfire that tore through Altadena on January 8, 2024, completely burned down the property on Skylane, which was owned by Satya’s boyfriend’s family and housed a multigenerational household and an outdoor farm school where Satya worked as an early childhood educator. The fire destroyed the farm and every structure on the farm, including the home Satya shared with her boyfriend, Malcolm. Thankfully, no one was harmed (both Satya and Malcolm were traveling out of the country, and everyone else evacuated). But since they were away Satya could save nothing. All of her belongings are gone, including expensive medical supplies to treat her chronic autoimmune illness. The only things Satya has now are in the backpack she has been traveling with for the last 2.5 months. She lost everything else, including clothes and shoes, art supplies and art, furnishings, bedding, books, her laptop computer, and so many more irreplaceable memories. Because she lost her place of employment and her home, donations will go to supporting her in this transition. Please donate whatever you can. If you have other non-monetary resources to share, please reach out to me directly.
