Support Satchy's Medical Needs

Meet Satchmo, affectionately called Satchy, a 10+ year old Leonberger who needs your help. He has been his Moms service dog most of his life until he was retired when he got too old to perform his duties. He is overall in good health for an extremely old giant breed but does have osteoarthritis, an enlarged prostrate, and potential late onset LPN. They are all controlled currently with regular acupuncture and medications. Satchy has been insured with Nationwide Pet Insurance since before he was 1 year old. His Mom has always kept him insured knowing how expensive veterinary costs are and since she is on a limited income ensuring Satchy is always covered.

Last month Nationwide dealt Satchy a critical and potentially life-ending blow by cancelling his insurance without cause. Payments have never been missed. Of course, now he is over 10 and cannot find insurance elsewhere that will accept him and cover any of his pre-existing conditions. His Mom has been fighting Nationwide and researching this issue, has uncovered over a hundred thousand older dogs in the same situation, it is horrible.

Satchy’s Mom has since gotten Nationwide to agree to reinstate Satchy’s coverage but at a significant cost increase. She must also come up with two months of premiums in advance, which with her limited income she does not have. We are asking for help to pay these fees plus one month of Satchmo’s medications he desperately needs. Please consider helping my friend to afford to save Satchy in his final part of his life. He is the most loving and incredible boy and doesn’t deserve a death sentence by a headless insurance company. No dog, big or little, young or old, should be without veterinary care due to their owner’s struggle with funds and I’m asking for the village to help my friend, Satchy’s mom, help her to help Satchy.
