On the early morning of January 17, 2026, our world was turned upside down. My sister, Sasha, was out on a motorcycle ride when she was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. What started as a casual commute ended with her being rushed to the hospital via ambulance, hurt and confused. Sasha is a bright, ambitious soul currently pursuing her Master’s in International Law. To support her studies, she works tirelessly in the hospitality industry. Those who know her know she is always the one moving, working, and planning for her future. Now, she is forced to be still.
The physical toll has been devastating, Sasha is currently facing.
She underwent an open washout and fixation with K-wires for a broken second toe, broke 3 toes and 2 fingers. She is suffering from severe "road rash" abrasions across her arms, legs, calf, and buttocks. With stitches in her right hand and left ankle, she can only use her left arm with great difficulty.
Total Loss of Independence: She is strictly non-weight bearing, relying on crutches, CAM boot and wheelchair just to move. She needs assistance to go to the bathroom have a shower etc.
Because of these injuries, she has no capacity to work for at least the next 3 to 6 months . For a casual hospitality worker and student, this is a terrifying reality. While she is determined to return to light duties eventually, her focus right now has to be on intense physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and follow-ups with the Fracture and Plastics Hand clinics.
How You Can Help
As her sister, it breaks my heart to see someone so driven be sidelined by such a traumatic event. The weight of medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and daily living expenses all while being unable to work is a burden, no student should have to carry alone. The devastation of this traumatic incident adds another layer of suffering to the burden.
We are asking our community to help us surround Sasha with the support she needs. Your donations will go directly toward:
- Covering medical and surgical expenses.
- Assisting with rehabilitation and physical therapy.
- Ensuring her bills are managed while she is unable to earn an income.
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page. Every message of support gives Sasha the strength to keep pushing through the pain of recovery.
Thank you for being part of her village.
