On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Sara was involved in a devastating accident that changed our lives in an instant.
Sara was rushed to the hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition. Sara suffered a brain bleed, a tear in her aorta, fractured C1 vertebra, along with eight broken ribs and a fractured hip, femur, ankle, heel, and wrist, in addition, she sustained a torn bladder, which has since been surgically repaired.
Doctors have stabilized her major fractures for now, but beginning Monday 3/2/26, she will undergo multiple surgeries to plate and screw several of the broken bones. Sara faces several more weeks in the hospital as these procedures take place. Once her surgical procedures are complete, the next step will be gradually weaning her from sedation and the ventilator.
This is an incredibly serious situation. While we are deeply grateful that Sara is still with us, the road ahead will be long and filled with challenges and unknowns. What we do know is that Sara is a devoted single mother and a beloved fifth-grade teacher at First Lutheran in Ponca City. Sara has a daughter who depends on her every day with many responsibilities waiting at home. Her recovery will take time — physically, emotionally, and financially — including extensive physical rehabilitation in the months ahead.
We humbly ask for your continued prayers, positive thoughts, and strength for Sara and our family. Your love and support mean more than we can express.
If you feel led to help, Sara is accepting donations through GoFundMe, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App. The links are listed below. All contributions will go directly to Sara to help cover medical expenses and provide financial stability for her and her daughter, allowing Sara to focus fully on healing and recovery.
When Sara is able to communicate, she will have access to her phone. We know that messages of love and encouragement will mean so much to her and help lift her spirits. We will keep you updated on when she is awake and able to read and respond to your messages.
Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time. We are taking this one moment at a time and holding tightly to hope.
