Help Me Keep the Medley Babies Safe, Warm & Calm

Hi, I’m Sarah, and every Saturday and Sunday, I drive six hours round trip to spend six hours with the Medley babies at the Medley Animal Shelter in South Florida.

This facility has no air-conditioning, and when it rains for even ten minutes, it floods. The babies live outdoors, and the shelter is only open to the public six hours a week. I make sure I’m there open to close, every single weekend — and I haven’t missed one yet.

When I first started, the babies were sleeping on bare concrete, scared and hopeless. I couldn’t just watch that happen. Through my Amazon Wish List and the kindness of incredible supporters, I was able to get a bed for every single baby. I spent 13 straight hours assembling them myself and personally delivered each one, so not one baby would ever sleep on concrete again.

Now, it’s getting cold, and they urgently need thick, warm blankets (also on my Amazon Wish List) to help them stay comfortable through the night. The shelter is completely outdoors, and when the temperature drops, that concrete freezes.
And now that it’s getting dark earlier, these babies spend their nights alone in the pitch black and freezing cold. It’s heartbreaking — they have no one with them, no comfort, and no warmth except what I can bring.

Every weekend, I bring premium calming treats — pig ears, Oinkies, lamb chews, and natural calm-down treats that help soothe anxiety and kennel stress. These aren’t just snacks — they’re therapy. They help the babies relax, decompress, and feel safe, even if just for a little while.

What I give them goes beyond treats — it’s love and consistency. Every weekend, I speak softly to them, call them by name, and remind them they’re not forgotten.
Something incredible happens when they hear my voice — the entire shelter goes quiet. You can see it yourself on my Instagram: @Justme_thatsher. The first time it happened, it was surreal — every baby ran to the front of their kennel, tails wagging, eyes lit up. It was like they knew I had them. I will never stop being their voice, speaking for them, or showing up.

For months, I was blessed with donations from kind people who helped make this possible — but now, with the holidays approaching, I know money is tighter, and donations have slowed down drastically.
Last week, since there were no treats left, I spent $750 out of my own pocket — money I absolutely did not have — just to make sure the babies didn’t go without. But I can’t do that again.

Since I started showing up and sharing their stories, the shelter has completely changed. For years, no one walked through those doors, but now people are visiting because they’ve seen the babies on social media. Dogs that were invisible are now being seen, shared, and adopted. Just recently, a long-time resident named Coco, who had been there since 2023, finally got adopted because of the exposure from my page.

I’m raising funds to:
Buy warm, thick blankets for every kennel as temperatures drop
Restock calm-down treats and chews that help relieve anxiety
Cover gas costs so I can continue driving six hours every weekend
Order supplies in bulk or wholesale to make every dollar go further

I was terminated as a volunteer after I challenged the Mayor’s claim that the shelter was “doing a great job.” I presented facts, photos, and videos showing the truth — and within 24 hours, I was removed. But I’ll never stop showing up, and I’ll never stop speaking up.

Every Saturday and Sunday, I post on my stories in real time, showing the babies, the deliveries, the adoptions, and exactly how every dollar is spent. I will upload receipts for full transparency — because every cent goes straight to the babies.

They didn’t choose this life — but I’ve chosen to show up for them, even when it costs me everything.
Every dollar, every treat, every blanket, every share matters.

Thank you for helping me keep the Medley babies warm, calm, and loved this winter. ❤️https://linktr.ee/diamondsdoghouse
