Support Sarah’s Long Road to Recovery

Greetings, I am Mariah Estrada, reaching out to you all on behalf of my beloved mother, Sarah Fata. Sarah is currently hospitalized due to a heartbreaking incident that occurred on May 9th, 2023. On that fateful day, she was found in a critical state in her Las Vegas residence, a victim of a severe assault. Left unattended on her dining room floor for over an hour, she was on the brink of losing her life when paramedics finally reached her.

Thanks to the immediate medical attention she received, Sarah has made it this far. Her fight for life has been an uphill battle, especially considering the traumatic brain injury she endured. The Subarachnoid hemorrhage she experienced - bleeding in the space surrounding the brain - culminated in a Diffuse Axonal Injury grade 2. A consequence of this is that Sarah suffered significant brain damage, leaving her in a state where she's unaware of her surroundings, unable to speak or respond to commands.

Her condition necessitated a tracheostomy to facilitate breathing and a feeding tube for nourishment. Her recovery journey is filled with uncertainties, but we remain hopeful.

Sarah has always been an active individual, passionate about her kids, hiking, fitness activities, and Zumba. She was known for her golden heart, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her infectious laugh and radiant smile could turn any room into a haven of joy. Sarah, who was due to graduate from Southern Nevada College on May 15th, unfortunately, couldn't accomplish this due to her hospitalization. As the sole provider in her home, she leaves behind her one-year-old daughter.

Medical experts have indicated that Sarah's recovery could reach only up to 60%, meaning life as we knew it will never be the same. After spending three weeks in the Trauma ICU, she's now in a long-term care facility where her recovery journey continues.

This brings me to the purpose of this GoFundMe initiative. We aim to gather financial support to ensure Sarah receives the best possible care during her recovery. The insurance coverage falls short of her medical needs, which include physical and speech therapy, along with other alternative therapies once we fully understand the extent of her health situation. All contributions will be directed towards medical expenses and other costs associated with Sarah's recovery journey.
