Support Sarah's Fight Against Breast Cancer

It’s with a heavy (but hopeful) heart that this news has been discovered and shared. Please join us in this rally of support for Sarah, her family, and her fight against breast cancer.

When Sarah called with the news, I immediately broke down in tears.

“It’s invasive ductal carcinoma that has spread to the lymph nodes.”

I couldn’t think much beyond that moment and the anger of how unfair it all is.

She just got engaged to Nick, just had a baby, and just finished years of grad school work to become a therapist.

This is when the next big and beautiful part of her life should just be starting.

It should be hours antsy in wedding planning and spending way too much time preparing for her baby’s first birthday party. It should be a career lifting off and the work of advocacy and compassion impacting other people's lives.

Instead, now her life is put on hold like some big collective breath that just waits to be exhaled.

Sarah’s cancer is metastatic and needs aggressive treatment. She’s prepared to do everything in (and outside of) her power to fight this disease head-on.

Sarah starts chemo treatments tomorrow, which will be followed by surgery, then radiation. Each step in treatment comes with its own unique set of challenges.

The financial burden of cancer goes beyond the impact of medical interventions; it’s time unable to work, costs associated with childcare, home assistance and physical recovery- it’s life upended by constantly evolving treatment plans and rotating appointments.

Sarah, Nick, Dove and Lois have a road ahead of them that will be very challenging to navigate and maneuver through at times.

With your help, we can ease the burden of stress during this journey and provide this beautiful family the most valuable gift of time- we can give them more time to focus on healing and less time worried about the debts of this disease.
