Hi, I’m Emily — Sarah’s sister. I’m creating this GoFundMe to help Sarah and her husband, Chuck, with the overwhelming costs tied to Sarah’s recent medical emergency and cancer treatment. We held off on sharing this until we understood more of what the emergency care, hospital stay, and follow-up treatment would involve financially.
In September, Sarah had surgery to treat stage 3 endometriosis in hopes of getting relief from chronic pain and finally feeling like herself again. After years of infertility and the heartbreak of an ectopic pregnancy, our family thought we understood how heavy life could get — but we weren’t prepared for what came next: her pathology results showed cancer.
To remove the cancer, Sarah had a hysterectomy at MD Anderson. The next day, after returning to College Station, she developed severe symptoms and was taken to the local ER. Because her surgeon and care team were at MD Anderson, she was transported back there by helicopter for urgent evaluation and the possibility of a second surgery to stop internal bleeding. Due to helicopter transport protocols, Chuck couldn’t ride with her and had to drive separately, which gives you a glimpse of how fast and scary all of this has been.
Once at MD Anderson, Sarah arrived with very low hemoglobin and required multiple blood transfusions and close monitoring.
I remember it so clearly when I asked the transport team what was going on during her initial triage: "She's not dying. But it's serious."
I didn't know if that made me feel better or worse.

Her condition was a roller coaster — moments of hope followed by setbacks, more transfusions, scans, significant pain, and complications including fever, chills, nausea, and concerns for an abscess. She was placed on IV antibiotics, and at one point a drain procedure was being planned, but it was later cancelled because her body began improving more quickly than expected. Her hematoma, which was initially nearly 10 cm, had shrunk to around 2 cm.
During our time at MD Anderson, we were reminded that the Lord is in ultimate control- creating miracles in Sarah's healing that the doctors couldn't even believe and sending angels in the form of nurses to pray over her healing and help her continue to fight.
(Roselyne, pictured below, anointed Sarah with the most powerful prayer.)
Sarah was discharged after a long hospital week, but this is not the end of the road. She will still be facing continued recovery, follow-up care, and ongoing cancer-related treatment decisions.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
- Hospital and surgeon bills related to multiple surgeries and complications
- Emergency transport costs (including helicopter + ambulance transfer)
- Blood transfusions, scans, labs, and inpatient care at MD Anderson
- Medications and follow-up appointments
- Travel costs for Chuck and family support during hospital stays
- Time away from work and basic living expenses while Sarah recovers
If you’re able to donate, any amount truly helps. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser and continuing to pray for Sarah and Chuck means more than you know.
Thank you for supporting Sarah through a season that has been terrifying, exhausting, and deeply humbling.
With gratitude,
Emily
