There are moments in life when faith is no longer theoretical, and it becomes the only thing holding you upright. This has become one of those seasons for Sarah Kayleen.

Sarah’s cancer journey began in late 2025, when she was diagnosed with what doctors initially believed was a rare stage 3 ovarian germ cell cancer. She underwent an extensive abdominal surgery in December, including removal of her left ovary and cancer throughout multiple areas of her abdomen. Before beginning chemotherapy, she also traveled to Seattle for fertility preservation, successfully freezing three eggs in hopes of protecting her dream of becoming a mother someday.

Sarah then began aggressive BEP chemotherapy. Unfortunately, treatment brought serious complications, including a pulmonary embolism, and her cancer markers did not respond as doctors had hoped.

After months of additional testing, pathology review, imaging, tumor boards, and consultations with specialists, Sarah received an unexpected new diagnosis. Her cancer is now believed to be an extremely rare carcinoma with pancreatic acinar differentiation and an SND1:BRAF fusion, with cancer involving multiple areas of her abdomen and lymph nodes. This discovery completely changed the direction of her treatment.

Sarah is now working with specialists to pursue a targeted MEK inhibitor, an oral medication designed to target the pathway driving her particular cancer. Because her diagnosis is so rare, there is no simple roadmap, and accessing specialized treatment comes with significant medical, travel, and living expenses.

Alongside conventional oncology care, Sarah has also been incredibly proactive about supporting her body through integrative and naturopathic care. She has incorporated IV vitamin C, nutritional and low-glycemic dietary changes, carefully selected supplements, and other supportive therapies under the guidance of her care team. These treatments and appointments are largely paid for out of pocket.

Through everything — major surgery, fertility treatment, chemotherapy, complications, changing diagnoses, countless appointments, and tremendous uncertainty — Sarah continues to hold tightly to her faith and the belief that God is still writing her story.

The financial burden of fighting a rare cancer is enormous and a burden that nobody should have to fight while fighting for their life. Donations will help Sarah cover specialized cancer treatment and medications, integrative care, travel to cancer centers and specialists, medical expenses not covered by insurance, and living expenses while her ability to work remains limited.

More than anything, this fund gives Sarah the freedom to put her energy where it belongs: healing, pursuing every appropriate treatment option available to her, and continuing to live her life with faith and hope.
