Support Sarah's Post-Graduation Journey in Becoming a Doula

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Eusebio, and I recently graduated with my Bachelor's Degree of Science at Unity Environmental University, where I studied Environmental Science and Climate Change. Alongside my major, I concentrated in Sustainable Food and Farming and Environmental Health and Wellness.
I truly love the environmental space and seek careers in the field down the line, but for now, I envision my post-graduation as a time where I can nurture my passions and side careers that I have been unable to nourish due to being in school. Some of these passions include reading, writing, art in ALL forms, holistic wellness, Ayurveda, traditional healing practices, nutrition, Puerto Rican and Caribbean Studies, women's health; honestly, the list can go on forever. You know what they say... Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.
I'm not entirely a fan of having the attention on me (my sweet 16 consisted not of a massive party, but a musical festival and trip to Puerto Rico, where I zip-lined through El Yunque Rainforest). As I got older, I realized the much higher value that experiences have provided for me versus a tangible gift or a party that ends up costing a fortune. So, instead of having a traditional graduation celebration/party, I invite you all to what would be the greatest gift that will serve me for a lifetime.
Something that comes naturally for me is caring for others. I have always been told that I am very nurturing, very calm, and can show up for people in times of need, and hold space for them or whatever else they may need. My ability to stay grounded during difficult situations has also made me the contact person of the family whenever they needed some level-headedness to a particular situation. I've also witnessed and experienced an influx of stressful and traumatic experiences, that as I got older, I wanted to be able to provide a safe container for individuals to feel comfortable in my presence.
For reference, I was the girl who would give up my snacks to the kids in high school who I knew hadn't eaten all day, or slide down my half-eaten lunch because I am "full," when really I knew my friends didn't have lunch money or they didn't have time to eat today. Around my friends, I always make sure to ensure them that they can be free, open, and that they are safe around me. I never enjoyed the feeling of having to bottle up who I truly was because of what other people thought, so I make it my goal to make everyone I connect with feel as if we have known each other for a lifetime.
I aspire to get into the field of doula care, specifically, I aim to work towards becoming a death doula. This has been something I have been considering for quite some time, and the thought came due to my natural affinity to be able to care deeply and intensely when it came to the care of others. My grandmother is my biggest inspiration for this decision, as for the past few years, I have found much pleasure and joy in being a caretaker for her, and hope I can be of unconditional support for when the time comes.
Below you can find a link with the death doula training program I aspire to enroll in with The International End-Of-Life Doula Association, which would also lead me towards their certification course. This will take place IN-PERSON in Upstate New York, sometime in September. It will span over the course of a few days, and will be day-long trainings. This program is also well-known and accredited, to ensure any funds provided for this journey are going to a legitimate institution. All who donate will receive follow-up messages of the progress! If for any reason this program does not fall into fruition, ensure that these funds will be used to nurture other hobbies and possible career prospects that will aid in my continuing education, but before that happens, I would be in contact with everyone for transparency purposes.
Honestly, if all you can donate is $1, $5, $10, or feeling fancy and want to donate $100, or even all of it, every single dollar would be appreciated and viewed as your unconditional support towards my passions. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions, comments, concerns, etc.
So much love,
Sarah E.
