In September 2024, Sarah noticed a lump on her upper back. She went to her chiropractor, who quickly ordered imaging that revealed a large tumor near her spine. Over the following weeks, she underwent additional imaging, saw several specialists, and had a biopsy. The biopsy results, which came back on November 21, 2024, revealed an exceptionally rare cancer called spindle cell/sclerosing rhabdomyosarcoma. This is an aggressive form of cancer that will require chemotherapy, surgery, and possibly radiation. Sarah will receive care at specialized sarcoma centers, but we are hoping her chemotherapy treatments will be conducted in Columbia.
Sarah is surrounded by many friends and family who care deeply for her, and we are incredibly grateful for all of you. The road ahead will be long, and she will need your prayers, encouragement, and financial support.
We will keep this page updated with her progress and news. We kindly ask that you avoid texting Sarah for updates and instead check this page, so she can focus on healing. Of course, we welcome encouraging messages, letters, and care packages. Please text Bethany at [phone redacted] or Savannah at [phone redacted] if you need assistance with sending something or have questions about what might be helpful.
A meal train will be set up once Sarah starts chemotherapy and when she has her surgery.
Please consider donating to help offset the extensive costs of her medical expenses.
