Support Sara's Life-Saving Gift
Donation protected
My dear friend Denise Fisher was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2016 and was very sick. She faded into the background and was unable to volunteer, work, punch, or do yoga...all things that she loves. Many people stepped forward to donate a kidney but none of them were a match, even her own daughter, Sara Fisher. However, The Ohio State University has a program that creates a chain of people who can match with others and Sara and Denise were both matched in the same chain and had surgeries on the same day! Denise received a kidney from an amazing donor and Sara gave a kidney to someone who has been waiting for a match for 10 years! He is the father of two young boys and he will now have his life back. This was the largest exchange that OSU has done so far and the largest one in Ohio. Sara's procedure was covered but she will be off work for 8 weeks in order to recover. She recently started a new job, so she doesn't really have any paid time off yet. The match happened so quickly that she didn't have time to save up or to prepare financially, but she did it anyway! Sara is a thoughtful, loving person who gave a gift to save her mom and another human. She is a single mom with a teenage son who needs help meeting basic expenses (rent, utilities, groceries, car) until she is cleared to return to work. Thank you to everyone who is willing to donate to the donor!
