Medical and Living Expenses for Shaw Family

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

We are reaching out to you on behalf of the Shaw family. Marta and Billy Shaw have lived in Poland for the past 10 years. They have also been helping with relief efforts with neighboring countries, supported by many Minnesotans, Slot Hospitality Network, featured on Kare 11 and in Connect Magazine. Just as they were coming to terms with the fatigue and secondary trauma of war next door and a refugee crisis at home, their youngest daughter Sara (born in June 2024) started showing concerning health symptoms.

Sara has significant developmental delays, muscle tension abnormalities, and neurological issues that affect her sleep. She has been in physical therapy since she was three months old, with very limited results. Multiple doctors have suggested the possibility of genetic disorder. The next available genetics appointment in Poland is in November 2027. With doctors saying each week counts for Sara’s development, the Shaws have decided to pursue diagnosis and treatment in the US. They arrive in the US in December 2024 and hope to return to Poland in June 2025.

With the collective strength of our community, we hope to offer them some relief and support. We are raising funds to cover medical appointments, transportation, living expenses and any other costs that arise. We are humbly asking for your support, in any amount you can offer, to ensure the Shaws can focus on healing for their daughter and rest for their weary family.

The Shaws will be able to rent a home from friends in Minneapolis at an affordable rate and they also created a list of items they will need as they move in.
