Sara, my neighbor, has shown great courage in the face of unimaginable hardship. In April, she was injured in a domestic violence incident in her own home, resulting in a concussion and other injuries. Since that day, she has been on her own. Her husband has avoided all attempts to force his support, as he tries to wear her down financially and emotionally, and will likely not face a court order until a trial next summer. However, she has courageously changed from a stay-at-home mom to a provider for her kids. Sara has bravely stepped into a new role, working her first semi-professional job with Baltimore County Public Schools. However, her position is hourly, 30 hours per week at most, modestly paid, and offers no benefits, making it difficult to provide for her family.
She has exhausted her savings, her credit, and has even been forced to sell her jewelry to make ends meet. And with the winter break approaching, she will be missing two weeks' pay. The funds raised will help cover essential needs and give Sara and her boys a path to self-sufficiency while she works toward a more stable future. We are hoping to provide Sara and her boys with support to ease their anxiety and help them through this difficult time.
Our hope is to raise enough to supplement her weekly income, and cover costs for courses to transition to a higher-paying position at BCPS. Will you please help? And please consider a monthly contribution for just 9 months so that she can rest a little easier at night. Note: On the GoFundMe website, you are able to adjust the'tip' that is suggested by GoFundMe, at your discretion. If you'd rather not use GFM, message me on FB for an alternate. Thanks!
**Update: Your generosity is overwheming! I hope that all who are able will make a modest monthly donation through the first half of 2026. Thanks again to all, and wishing everyone the peace and joy of this season! Tim Tinker
