Hi, my name is Kristin and I am the cousin of Sara Nissen. Sometimes it takes a village and right now Sara could use a village to help support her while her newborn undergoes open heart surgery. Her daughter Jazlyn Jade was born on January 2nd with a congenital heart defect called tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). This includes four abnormalities of the heart that cause the heart to not be able to send proper oxygenation throughout the body. Sara knew of this condition while she was pregnant and that Jazlyn would need surgery sometime in the first six months of life. Last night, baby's oxygen was dropping in the 30s and her medical team decided it was time to go forward with the surgery. She is being taken for surgery at noon today, January 15th. Sara has two other young kids that she takes care of primarily on her own and has a limited amount of support due to other factors in her life. She is not getting any support financially from her job for maternity leave or medical leave because she works for a small company that does not offer these benefits. This is causing added stress on her as she tries to manage paying her rent, feeding her family, and taking care of her bills. She also needs support with her kids as she tries to manage being with them and at the hospital, so even offering a hand with Theo and Alyna would be so helpful. Any amount of financial support or even thoughts, prayers, and emotional support is greatly appreciated, as it is going to be a long road ahead for Jazlyn and her family.
All donations will be used to support Sara and her kids during her time off work while she spends time in the ICU with Jazyln and to support her other 2 children, household expenses, food gas and rent.
