Tax deductible
UPDATED 6-24-24
We are sadden to have to say that over the past six weeks that we found out by the results of an MRI and additional tests done at Penn Vet, that Breeze had an aggressive bone cancer that had spread to the lungs and other organs. She received two IV treatments and other medications to help manage the pain and slow it's progression. Breeze has spent this time being the best Pet, Search Dog and companion with time spent, seeing old friends. She got to do a few easy little search problems over the weeks at trainings, she spent her last day by the creek with members from all four of our local SAR teams getting petted and hugged, at a water rescue training Sunday, after being carried down the hill and back up the hill after a great day in the sun, Breeze thank you for your service and we have got it from here, your relived of duty. Safe travel, Forever in our hearts!
Thanks to all that donated, and to those than do so in the future. Funds will be used to cover costs of her treatment and we plan to use any additional funds to rebuild our K9 Fund to help other SAR team dogs in the future. Thank You, Chief Bruce Barton
ORIGNAL Post:
Please join me, in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Rescue International's K9 fund, any donation will help make an impact to help our recently injured search and rescue canine Breeze, she was injured on her second day of searching with her handler Emy, looking for a missing fisherman in Monroe County PA. The terrain was very rough and hilly, Breese on that first day along with another dog team had a lot of interest in one section of the stream and the hill above it. On day two Emy and Breese worked for a few hours searching and showed strong interest up the hill . Breese wanted to go up the hill but it was a steep snow covered rock face that she was not able to get up. Other dog teams were sent out to check the area from above and another K9 team located the subject, up on the side of the hill.
During this second day, Breeze searched non stop, working the large scent cone, BUT she was injured at some point in her left shoulder. Emy noticed this the next morning and took her to the Vet. The thought was that she had pulled a muscle. To date Vet bills are almost $2500 and after two months of being out of SAR service and on limited activity and medications, she is still showing signs of pain.
She will now need further advanced imaging and treatment based on the results.
We need your help to get this highly experienced nine year old search dog with multiple certifications, and well over a dozen finds, back in service to help bring the missing, lost and injured back home. We and the families that we serve need your support. Any amount helps and adds up. Any donations not used for Breeze will stay in our K9 Fund and will be used to support our team's canines in the future.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause, that means so much to so many now and in the future.
UPDATE MAY 5 2024
Breeze has seen the VETS at Penn Vet Center and recommended a support vest that we have received at a 45% discount, Thank You and to all that donated. WE STILL NEED to reach our goal as they need to do a MRI to confirm what damage was done. Breeze is still out of service and NEEDS YOUR Help, please spread the word and donate whatever you can.
