[Thank you for your generous support. The VSS team will be transferring the final amount raised to Sanjay's family in the next week.]
It pains me immensely to share the news of the death of Sanjay, a young 24-year old who was coordinating a project to reduce the burden of tuberculosis among the Sahariya community in Madhya Pradesh. The project was initiated by Vikas Samwad Samiti (VSS) and supported by the Association for India's Development (AID).
I had the honor of meeting Sanjay in December 2022 in Pohri (Shivpuri district in MP) and witnessed first-hand the warmth, passion and ease with which he formed connections and built trust with community members, and the meticulous records he maintained of each and every TB patient being supported. The loss will be immense not just for his immediate family but for the community as a whole.
Sandip, a social activist affiliated with VSS, shared these words: In just 10 months, Sanjay brought the project to a very high level. I can't describe in words what a loving friend he was. It is impossible to digest that someone with such a bright smile on his face could have a heart attack. I never thought that he might leave us at such a young age. Our brother Sanjay will always be remembered. I pray that God gives him space by his feet and his family strength to bear this tragic situation.
Sanjay leaves behind his wife Jyoti who is expecting a child this September. We are raising funds to support them in this most difficult time.
Thank you for your compassion.
