Help Kittens Sandy and Dune

10 Lives Rescue recently took in a litter of 6 (we were originally told there were 4) tabby kittens from a rescuer in Jamaica, Queens. Despite having been inside a home with their mother, no one seemed to know just how many kittens there were and that anything was even wrong.

When our surprise 6 tabbies arrived at their foster earlier this week, we very quickly could see that there was a big problem. Sandy (named because they are Sand Tabbies in their markings) had a very clear issue with her back leg and front leg. So off this 1 pound, 8 week old kitten went to the vet.

She had an initial round of X-rays and testing at one of our incredible partner vets, which showed something very alarming. Several of the bones in these two legs are U-shaped when they should be straight. They even go in different directions. The vet believes this is caused by a congenital deformity. However, she will need to go for further testing and evaluation to assess if anything can be done to help her.

Despite all this, she still scoots around and tries to play. She lays with her other beautiful siblings and cuddles with them.

We want to help Sandy live the best, pain-free life we can and we are determined to get her the care she needs, but in order to do that we need your help. We don't know what caused this to happen or how it went unnoticed for 8 weeks, but we are determined to help this precious baby get the best possible quality of life she can. We made this fundraiser initially because sweet Sandy needs our help, but it turns out her brother Dune is also the real emergency! This poor boy has suspected Anal Atresia and will need corrective surgery! Despite having so much difficulty pooping, he still meows and plays and cuddles with his siblings. We want to help Dune live a pain free life but please we need your help. 10 Lives Rescue is less than one year old and we are seeking every possible source of funding including grants and more, but every single donation makes a difference.
