My name is Erin, I'm Sandy's daughter and caregiver. This campaign is to raise funds for my Mom, Sandy Donner(Walters) initial cancer treatment.
On October 28, 2025, our hearts were shattered. We received the confirmation my mom has Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Breakdown:
My mom noticed a lump in her breast in August/September. She called her Gyn. to get an exam and her routine mammo ordered. Both Gyn. and insurance informed Mom that she could no longer see a specialist for "routine" care. So she contacted her primary physician who was in the process of merging and being recredentialed. Therefore, insurance wouldn't cover the visit with him for another month. Mom reached out to her insurance who set her up with a new PCP, who finally got the process rolling. She went for her exam, and the physician agreed that she needed additional testing. He ordered a Diagnostic Mammo and Ultrasound of both breasts. The mammo and ultrasound revealed something suspicious for cancer in her right breast and underarm; and the amazing radiologist (Dr. Chapman) noticed right away. She was scheduled for a biopsy within a couple of days. Biopsy (Pathology) revealed she had metastatic breast cancer, which we received the results for on 10/28/25. Her PCP was very attentive to our concerns and saw us in the office immediately. He ordered a STAT PET scan of the entire body, which uses a special dye and scans the whole body for cancer. Everywhere I called couldn't perform the scan until 2026. I refused to settle and persistence paid off. Eventually, I was able to get a scan scheduled within a few days, praise God! PET scan results showed cancer was contained to only the right breast and underarm. She went to see the breast surgeon within a few days to get the plan of care started. He confirmed that Mom has Stage 2 Metastatic Breast Cancer HER2+. What does HER2+ mean? It means the cancer is fed off the hormone Estrogen. The surgeon is currently recommending:
1) Chemo
2) Surgery
3) Radiation (depending on surgical and pathology results)
4) Chemo pill.
Before all of this, the surgeon said, "But GOD is bigger than cancer!"
She then went to see the Oncologist who puts the final plan of care in place. She confirmed again the cancer diagnosis and the previous recommendations for treatment from the surgeon. The Oncologist informed us that this cancer is very responsive to treatment but very aggressive so Mom has to start treatment ASAP. Her treatment will include chemo every 3 weeks x6 plus antibody injections.
Mom had her PowerPort for chemo placed on Thurs 12/11/25.
She had her first chemo treatment on Mon 12/15. This same day, I was informed that the copay for chemo is $3,600 until her out-of-pocket is met and to remember, that starts over @ $4,700 over the new year.
Totaling $8,300
We are asking, if you can, to please contribute to help relieve some of the financial burden for treatments and other costs incurred during Sandy's journey to beat cancer.
If you can't donate, please share and most importantly, keep her in your prayers! She has already overcome so much and with your love and support, she'll be a testimony again!
