A dear friend of the Hemmen family, Sandy (Sandra) Proffitt, is facing a challenging recovery after suffering a severe stroke at the end of February. Sandy has always been a vibrant and active member of the Bowling Green community.
Originally from Glasgow, Kentucky, Sandy has lived her whole life in the Bowling Green area, where she served as a Home Extension agent for Warren County for many years. She even hosted a local TV show, further showcasing her dedication to helping and connecting with others.
Sandy is currently at Signature Rehab Facility in Bowling Green, where she is in need of round-the-clock care to aid in her recovery. Unfortunately, as a former federal employee on FERS insurance, the period of care covered by her insurance is now ending. Sandy did not have long-term care insurance, and now is faced with paying over $200 out-of-pocket each day.
Our goal is to help Sandy raise funds for an additional 90 days in her rehab facility, which would amount to approximately $20,000. These funds will go directly towards her care and recovery efforts.
Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated. However, even if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser with your network would be immensely helpful. Sandy's friends and community are all she has to rely on during this difficult time, as she is an only child with no family.
Let's come together to support Sandy in her recovery journey. Your prayers, well wishes, and contributions, no matter how small, will make a difference. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
