On Wednesday, September 11, Sandy & Peter were served by a sheriff a 24 hour eviction notice on their door stating that their home was sold in a public auction on December 13, 2023. They had zero knowledge of this until the sheriff arrived at their home. They found out that there was a mishandling of work between the mortgage company, the bank, and the city. They were assured in the process these exact words: “You will not lose your home. This is what we do.” “You have nothing to worry about.” Sandy spoke with several employees numerous times to ensure they would continue to hold ownership of their home. She continuously received the same validating responses. She was at peace. Until they found out they sent their check back and never notified them. They were lied to & deceived by their mortgage company. This devastation has left them anxious, stressed, and an overwhelming amount of depressing emotions.
They were forced to move out of their home of 19 years after being assured they wouldn’t have to worry about anything. The mortgage company and the bank even told them ”we don’t know how we let this one slip.” They had 8 hours to get what they could out of the house they once called a home before the sheriff locked the doors.
They are in a hotel for now. Expenses are increasing, as expected, and they are still expected to pay the mortgage on a house they do not own anymore.
If you know Sandy & Peter, they are the MOST giving people. They are such humble people. They’ve helped so many people from buying their first homes, to allowing people to live with them, to also giving financially to people they love and sometimes don’t even know. It is now our time to help them out in the same way! They are trying to pursue legal action and are hoping justice is served in due time. No amount is too small. If you are able to help, please do so!
