Dear friends,

If you know Sandy Lewis, you know a gofundme is a last resort. Alas, our amazing friend, generous to a fault, happiest when helping others to have a damn good time, is gravely ill.

Please contribute as you can, and share your fond memories of her here. Perhaps your paths crossed at one of the dozens of popular DC area restaurants she opened / managed / consulted on / co-owned (Jaleo, Zaytinia, Hank's Oyster Bar, Commonwealth, Supra etc.). Perhaps you remember her from college days at William and Mary, or law school. Maybe you were neighbors in Arlington, VA, where she owned a home for twenty plus years. Or you may have befriended Sandy in the decade or so that she has lived in St. Augustine Florida. Sandy gets to know people everywhere she goes, she is a collector of friends, who are always welcome at her table.

Fighting cancer is a physical battle, but one requiring mental fortitude. Laughter and friendship, as they say, is the best medicine. So for any gift of support - financial, social, emotional or otherwise, A Million Thanks.

For those who don't know me, I met Sandy during the Clinton Administration while working in restaurants in Union Station and we've been friends ever since.
