Hi everyone, my name is Valeria Markus, and I’d like to share the story of our dear neighbors. We are reaching out for help in hopes of easing even a small part of their stress after an unimaginable tragedy.
On November 26th, our neighbors, Sandy and Jade, experienced the unthinkable.
Their beautiful middle child, Nylah, choked while having dinner at home as the family was preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday. Despite every effort to save her, Nylah passed away later that evening at Duke University Hospital.
Nylah was a bright, joyful little girl who would have turned five this coming February. She adored unicorns, squishmallows, and bringing smiles to those around her. She loved playing with her siblings and was the twinkle in her mother’s eye and the spark in her father’s heart. Her life was full of love, laughter, and pure sweetness — and her loss has left a void that can never be filled. Jade and Sandy will forever mourn their precious daughter.
As this family faces a reality no parent should ever have to endure, we are humbly asking for support to help ease the financial burdens ahead — time away from work, expenses related to this tragedy, and the long journey of healing. Both parents work tirelessly to support their children, and any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference as we come together to lift them during the darkest chapter of their lives.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
