Support Sandra in Memory of James

Story

My name is Laura. This past Sunday, we lost my beautiful 9-year-old nephew James, the only child of my sister Sandra. The situation surrounding his death is extremely brutal and traumatic, coming at the hands of his father. We are requesting privacy at this time and warning you about any internet searches on this topic, as some video has been released to the public that we would like to spare you the trauma of viewing. We wish anyone could have foreseen this situation, but there was no way any of us could have known. James' father hid his illness well. My sister has been left in a difficult situation, obviously emotionally, but also regarding arrangements and finances. My sister was the breadwinner for her family, but her job offers no paid leave benefit and is primarily tip income. She also recently moved to her current apartment, which she will now vacate, and bought a replacement vehicle. She will need funds to cover final arrangements for James, medical expenses for herself caused by stress and trauma, and to buy her time to grieve and heal. He was the most empathetic, caring, compassionate person...he loved cats, Roblox, Minecraft, Pokemon, soccer, and was a Giants and A's fan. He was so smart: emotionally intelligent beyond his years. He knew how much I loved him, and I'll never have to regret not telling him that enough." I will add that my sister loved James so much, their bond was truly special. James was the youngest nephew, cousin, and grandchild in our family and was truly treasured and loved by all of us. Our hearts are breaking. We could never imagine the loss of this sweet, kind child.
