Support Samuel's Traumatic Injury Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Stacy Abundiz.
On Monday, November 25th, our son Samuel had a traumatic injury to his vertebrae. He was Life-Flighted from Medford to Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland. He has been in the Pediatric I.C.U. since that day. We have several specialists working on him, trying to figure out the best course of action to take for his situation and recovery.
Sam is Autistic. Treating his injuries has been extremely traumatic for him because of this. Right now, he has to wear a collar 24/7 and is on constant sedating medication just to make him comfortable because of his Autism and sensory issues, making recovery even harder than it would be under normal circumstances.
He is at severe risk for further injury at this time, even while in the hospital. It is possible he will have to have surgery to fuse his vertebrae together at some point.
We are heartbroken as parents. Sam wakes up hourly, begging to come home, asking us why we are making him stay, and telling us how sad he is. We are devastated. We are far from home, and I had to quit my job to stay with him while his Dad works away from home and will only be able to visit us 3 days a week while we are in Portland. We may have to stay 6 weeks in I.C.U.
Anything helps us. We are asking for prayers, and if you are able to donate anything financially, we would be forever grateful.
