Support Samuel"Hustle King Recovery Journey

Family and Friends of Samuel Ingram have created this fundraiser. LaMeil Babbitt-Ingram and Kym Wyche’s life changed when they woke up to what they thought was a seizure around 6 am. Samuel is a 15-year-old sophomore attending Mount pleasant High school in Michigan. Samuel has overcome so much in his 15 years, from being diagnosed with Autism to just last year being diagnosed with focal epilepsy. He has beaten the odds at every opportunity. Autism and Epilepsy did not slow him down. He had plans to move out of his mom's house, go to college, and travel the world. Sam loves music and one day wants to be an International rapper. His stage name is Hustle King. He loves to sing and rap in all languages, from Spanish to Brazillian.

On July 1, LaMeil checked on him and realized he was not in bed but on his bedroom floor having a seizure. His seizures are primarily controlled by medication. After a few moments of him not coming out of the seizure, the decision was made to call Emergency and have him transported to their local Mclaren Hospital in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. An MRI and Cat-scan were completed, and the ER doctors were also uncertain why he was not coming out of the seizure. Due to Mclaren not having a Pediatric Unit, they made a difficult decision to have him air-medic to Helen Devos, about an hour and a half away. Once they reached Helen Devos, they were hit with devasting news. Sam had suffered a stroke from a blood clot, which had reached his brain and caused the stroke.

As most people know, Sam is a very vibrant, sweet, intelligent young man. When he was diagnosed with autism, his mother was told he would be nonverbal his whole life. However, his family stayed consistent, encouraged him, and over the years, Sam has learned how to articulate words, read, write, problem-solve, cook, clean, and so much more! He has worked extremely hard to get where he was. This change will be challenging for his parents and him. He went from an independent daily routine, with constant smiles and giggles throughout the day, to sitting in a hospital bed, having to depend on everyone else.

Sam is looking at a long road to recovery. First, he will go to rehab for intensive therapy and need home modifications, a specialized wheelchair and other equipment to assist him with his ongoing care. It is not in LaMeil or Kym's nature to ask for financial support, but many have reached out offering, and we decided to set up a GoFundMe account for the family. We want to ensure that they have everything they need once he is discharged from the rehab hospital beyond the limited coverage of his insurance and the limited disability coverages.

We firmly believe that with all the positivity they have received in the past week, It has given Sam the strength to continue fighting. He is in good spirits. It will be a long road ahead, but Sam is a resilient fighter. With the help of family and friends, Sam will be stronger than ever. They are grateful for the outpouring of love and concern over the past week. They continue to ask for prayers and hope for miracles. Thank you in advance for any contributions, and continue to please pray for this family.
