This is Sam currently. Normally , he is my shadow with four legs and a tail, He has been in my life since the moment he was born . He is only 5. Not only is he my companion, but he is also able to alert me when I'm about to have an SVT episode.
Tuesday morning last week, he had gotten into the cat treats and I could tell he wasn't feeling that great.By Thursday morning he was refusing food and water and vomiting bile consistently . So I got him and emergency appointment with the vet,The vet checked him out , took x-rays to check for a blockage, found nothing in the x rays so did blood work. The blood work was processed in house and came back within the hour. Sam's kidney and liver levels were crazy high-high enough for the vet to tell me he needed to go to the emergency hospital right then. He was not sure if Sam was going to make it the night. He recommended Tufts, so that is where I brought him that afternoon. He was immediately triaged when I arrived, The vet and assistant explained to me that they suspected leptospirosis but they had to do testing to confirm their diagnosis, The first rapid test came back negative, so they did a second test that takes a little longer to get the results. Sam also had an ultrasound , to check for pancreatitis, and it showed that his gallbladder had an edema as well.
Today is Monday Oct 13th, There is still no formal diagnosis, His levels on his liver and kidneys are slowly decreasing. Yesterday and today Sams kidneys were at a level 2.8 and his liver is down to 600. Which are still very high. There is no formal diagnosis as of yet, the doctors are still trying to figure it out. Whatever it is caused acute kidney trauma. Im not sure when or if he's going to recover fully. The doctors are not certain either.
The reason for this go fund me is to pay for Sams medical bills, which at this time are overwhelming for me. I managed to get the get the initial money for the down payment so he could be treated. As of today, I was told the bill was going to exceed the original estimate of $6000. I'm not sure by how much yet- it depends how much longer he is hospitalized and whether or not he will need dialysis or any other specialized tests. There are also going to be more medical bills coming for his follow up visits and blood work that he will need for the few months or until his kidneys and liver return to normal, special food and medicines I will have to provide for him. Back in December of this past year my other dog had a stomach torsion and needed emergency surgery, and paying for that wiped out most of my emergency funds and savings, and he didn't survive the surgery. Now I have this situation going on and I hate having to ask anyone for help, but I need help. Please help me so I can continue to get Sam the help he needs to get better.I can't handle the thought of losing him as well. Thank you.

Update on Sam:
today is October 16th, Sam came home tonight. His liver functions are doing much better but his kidneys are still at 2.8, I will be bringing him for follow-up blood work in a week to check his levels again. Hopefully they will trend downward and this is not where they will be staying. But he's home and that's all that matters right now :-). Please know that every donation that you make is going to go directly to paying Sam's medical bills.
Today is October 24th, just got the follow-up results back for his leptospirosis test. He did test positive on one of the six titers. Also got his most recent blood work back, his kidney creatine levels are down to 2.0 and his BUN is down to 3.3, so overall he's making very good progress.
