Support Sam's Research Presentation at Johns Hopkins

Dear Friends and Family,

I have the wonderful opportunity to present my research at the prestigious John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland (USA), through the Ancient Science Graduate Conference, “Beyond the Page: the Hidden Worlds of Ancient Science”.

While my university offers once per academic year travel funds for such conferences for PhDs, I am reaching out to humbly ask for your generous support to supplement the cost of the trip. Arts & Humanities PhDs are sadly not allotted conference funds (nor equipment funds) as part of our contracts to pay for accommodation stays, flight and transportation costs, and food. Attending these conferences in the final year of my PhD will help to establish my name in the field, provide opportunities for public engagement, public speaking, and networking opportunities in hopes to secure a position in academia once my PhD concludes. Furthermore, research impact is vital to the local, regional and global community, including both the academic sector and general public.

Presenting my research at John Hopkins University would be such an honor from someone like me from little Idaho. Moreover, I have also been accepted to another conference this year: SCIENTIA “Scientific Texts and Ideas in the pre-modern Mediterranean area” in Barcelona, Spain. If you wish to also support my research endeavors at that conference, I have included the budgets here as well. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your kindness. You are all good people!

After the conferences take place, I will happily provide you all with presentation recordings of my research so you too may listen to my talks.
