Hi, we are the Barnett family, and we are raising money for our 13-year-old dog, Sam.
On the night of September 21, 2025, Sam suffered a serious fall down the stairs, which caused his hip to dislocate. He had to be rushed to the emergency veterinary as he was breathing heavily and was dragging himself on the floor.
The first vet was able to put the hip back in place; however, it popped out again the next morning. That same morning, we were referred to another emergency vet hospital that could see him and informed us that Sam would need a right femoral head and neck ostectomy. This surgery is performed by removing the ball and neck of his hip joint, creating a false joint that will eventually be supported by scar tissue. The surgery was conducted the next day, September 23, 2025.
The first couple of days after surgery were tough. Sam couldn’t walk, was in constant pain, and wouldn’t stop crying unless he was lying on top of us. He also went five days without eating, which made him even weaker and made it very challenging for us to give him his three medications. However, 3 weeks later, Sam is making remarkable progress. He can walk a few steps on his own, he is eating again, and his scar is slowly healing. This progress gives us hope for his full recovery.
If you are able to help donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us and Sam. All the donations will be going to the cost of Sam’s surgery, the post-recovery x-rays, and the testing of his recently diagnosed heart murmur.
Thank you so much!
