I’m Sam, but this isn’t about me. My father was such a great man. A teacher, mentor, a friend to so many. He was a genius; no one knows the world or the words that make it up quite like him. He’s a poet, a writer. He’s my father, the best most amazing person.
We had noticed him deteriorating for the last month and all he ever wanted to do was go to work anyways. He wanted to put off his needs for the sake of others every chance he could; no matter the cost, clearly. He was delirious when I finally could get him to hobble to the car.
ER diagnosed him with end stage kidney failure, and then referred to a big hospital in the city. He’s started dialysis. He was 67 years old. He stopped smoking and drinking for good. The new doctors found a mass on his kidneys, his lungs, his liver. Pancreatic fluid and other issues.
It was after 4 days of dialysis and hard work that he started feeling better.
Then, just at 16:30 or so he passed on October 3rd.
I am posting here looking for financial support as he insisted my brother not work while my father could still walk. I have a minimum wage Oklahoman job. Funds are horrible and now we are going to be leaving this hospital without him and to a funeral home. Moving into a home my grandmother left to us that hasn’t been kept as well as it should’ve been. The fences are falling, the roof leaks, the breaker keeps tripping. But now we have no where else to go, and our dogs need to be safe in the back, and we need to afford food for ourselves. My father as loving as he was, never did keep up quality for state insurance as he made $30 above the mark. He never claimed social security benefits. He added no beneficiary to his bank.
I am asking for anything you can give to help us get back on our feet.
Anything helps.
