I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Sam — someone who has always given so much to others, and now finds herself in a time of real need. In May, Sam was diagnosed with thymoma, a rare form of cancer. Since then, she’s bravely undergone two rounds of chemotherapy, with four more planned — one every 21 days. The goal is to shrink the tumor enough so doctors can safely perform surgery to remove it.

Right now, the tumor is about 4.5 inches wide, sitting between her heart and lungs. Once it shrinks, the surgery she’ll need is a full open chest procedure — a daunting prospect, but one Sam faces with her characteristic strength and positivity.

If you know Sam, you know she is the kindest, most uplifting person in any room. She’s the kind of person who shows up — always willing to help others, offer encouragement, and bring a smile, no matter what’s happening in her own life.

Right now, one of her biggest stressors is her health insurance, which costs $800/month out of pocket — and that amount is expected to rise soon. This GoFundMe is to help relieve some of that financial pressure so Sam can focus on healing without the added weight of medical bills.

She was unsure at first about letting me set this up — she didn’t want to impose. But I reminded her that this isn’t about asking — it’s about allowing others the opportunity to help if they feel led to. Even if this only covers one month of insurance, that’s one less thing she has to worry about.
