Hi, my name is Marcus, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my wife, Sam.

In May 2025, just before her 39th birthday, Sam was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer called malignant melanotic nerve sheath tumor (MMNST). She spent many days in the hospital, including several in the ICU and even on her birthday, and her treatment journey is just beginning.

Because of this, she has had to stop working, and the medical bills are far more than what we can manage on our own. We are reaching out for support to help cover these overwhelming costs so we can focus fully on her healing.

About our Unicorn, Sam

Sam is the kind of person who makes the world brighter just by being in it.

She is passionate about advocating for others and giving a voice to those who can’t speak up for themselves.

Her coworkers describe her as one of the best managers they’ve ever had, because she leads with empathy, kindness, and understanding.

She loves spending time with her family, friends, and her two cats, Elenor and Elijah.

In her free time, she enjoys refurbishing old furniture, learning from YouTube creators, and being creative with her hands.

Sam has faced many challenges in her life, including losing her mom to substance abuse at a young age. But she has never let hardship break her spirit. She is strong, resilient, and full of hope.

She is a friend, a sister, a wife, a brilliant manager, and one day, we hope, a mom.

Meet David, Sam’s Malignant Melanotic Nerve Sheath Tumor

Malignant melanotic nerve sheath tumor (MMNST) is an extremely rare form of cancer that develops in the cells surrounding nerves. Because it is so uncommon, treatment can be complicated, expensive, and often requires specialized care. Since MMNST is a mouthful, we have dubbed Sam’s tumor as David.

Since her diagnosis, Sam has already faced long hospital stays and is beginning the difficult road of treatment. Unfortunately, she cannot work during this time, and the financial burden of ongoing care, medications, and hospital visits has quickly become overwhelming.
